Job Description

The MOT Laborer is responsible for supporting traffic control operations on active road and bridge construction projects. This role ensures the safe and efficient movement of the public and construction crews by implementing and maintaining Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices, including cones, barrels, signage, and barricades
  • Implement and follow approved MOT plans for roadway construction projects
  • Direct traffic safely when required, ensuring the protection of workers and the traveling public
  • Monitor work zones to ensure compliance with FDOT standards and safety regulations
  • Communicate with crew members and supervisors regarding traffic flow and site conditions
  • Assist with general labor tasks as needed to support construction operations
  • Adjust traffic control setups based on project phases and site changes

Qualifications

  • Valid Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification (required)
  • Experience in traffic control, road construction, or similar field work preferred
  • Knowledge of work zone safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong awareness of safety and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on FDOT or heavy highway construction projects
  • Flagging experience
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical labor
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds
