Purpose:
Lead has a position for a pipe layer with little to any construction experience. As a member of the organization, the pipe layer will have a “can do” attitude and working directly with the foreman and field staff. The Laborer is responsible for pipe installations, read plans, install pipe to given elevations and work doing drainage, sewer and water work.
Knowledge:
Construction, underground work required
Knowledge and use of all safety devices and general safe work practices.

Job Requirements

Requirements
• Construction experience a plus.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
• General knowledge of methods, equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction and maintenance work.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, climbing, stooping, and bending.
• Active personality with a high level of initiative; proactive, has a sense of urgency.
• Self-starter with ability to set own goals and tasks.
• Duties are many and varied, but do not require skill, experience, nor the exercising of judgment.
• High school diploma or GED.
Tasks
• Perform tasks involving physical abilities at construction jobsites (highway, and heavy construction projects) which require specialized skill or previous work experience.
• May operate hand and power tools of all types.
• Uses shovel, pick, rake, etc. to dig, fill, and level ground.
• Assists with construction of the project.
• Completes maintenance duties as needed.
• Loads and unloads supplies and materials.
• Moves supplies and materials to point of use on jobsite.
• Cleans up refuse on jobsite.
• Cleans items such as steel for use on the project.
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
• May assist other craft workers.
