Job Description

Responsible for the management of the asphalt plant and asphalt production.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Asphalt Plant Operator directly reports to the Asphalt Plant Foreman.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare end of day plant reports as directed.
2. Maintain yard and plant to exceed environmental requirements and control room in a neat and orderly fashion.
3. Maintain plant settings and recordation of plant statistics as directed by the Plant Foreman.
4. Document plant records in the plant diary relating to plant repairs and maintenance as it becomes necessary. Report findings to the Plant Foreman.
5. Coordinate with outside sales customers as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS – PREFERRED
1. High School graduate.
2. Familiarity with computers.
3. Mechanical and electrical background.
4. Construction background.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL
1. Adhere to all rules listed in the Ajax Employee Safe Practices Handbook.
2. Ensure all Ajax quality standards are met.
3. Ensure adherence to all federal, state, local and Ajax Safety and Environmental Rules and Regulations.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Work is exposed to indoor/outdoor conditions, noise and heat
2. Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as required.

PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Accurate and well organized.
2. Self-motivated with good communication skills.
3. Ability to work well with subordinates, peers and supervisors.

ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY
1. Reporting to work on time, after lunch, and not leaving early unless authorized.
2. Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence.
3. Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off.
4. Performing such other duties as may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands of the position includes: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, low level work, high elevation work, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting a minimum of 75 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
